Dr. Wright is a policy historian at the American Institute for Economic Research, where he mentors undergraduate interns interested in applying to graduate schools and writes articles and books about topics like banking and stock brokering, disability insurance, economic growth and development, economic regulation, financial exclusion and inclusion, fiscal and monetary policy, healthcare and insurance, investing for retirement, journalism and social media, life insurance, the political economy of American Indian reservations, prisoner recidivism, slavery reparations, Universal Basic Income programs and proposals, and wildlife regulations.

Robert earned his Ph.D. in History from the University of Buffalo in 1997 and has taught at Temple University, the University of Virginia, and NYU's Stern School of Business. He was a Julian Simon Fellow at the Property and Environment Research Center in Bozeman, Montana in the summer of 2020 and the Paul Coverdell Visiting Distinguished Fellow of Policy Studies at Georgia College and State University that Fall. He is the author of 25 books and hundreds of book chapters, journal articles, and op eds but is also eager to mentor students interested in sharing their research using alternative forms of expression, including computer gaming, fictional writing (graphic novels, screenplays, songwriting), and videos.
